Fish have a very simple set of genetics which can be magically influenced.
Sometimes it doesn't even make sense.
Such is the way of the fishes.
RR or Rainbow is generally a modifying gene, only visible if there is another gene - such as spots - to color in that location.
DD or Deco is another strange gene. It is currently unpredictable which deco will display, ranging from common
stars,
hearts, or
snowflakes to strange
runes.
Muddling - Muddling occurs when several genes exist in a single location, such as the popular Splotch Effect. Each splotch gene is sequentially more dominant, so a fish with SS DD TT will display Triple Splotches. However, if the fish has Ss Dd Tt then it creates a strange muddling which often shows up as
Mottled.
