Edit: Was thinking about revamping the male Betta's tail and fins to look more like these. What do you think?

Or maybe bigger, like this:

They just don't look big enough or frilly enough for me.

I personally love the size they are at, and if you revamp the whole betta, then he wont match the female. I love him how he is, but I do think if you JUST messed with the tail frill and got it longer and more flowy, that would be nice. But I do like him as a whole. I mean, look at that face! Hes cute xD

Umm Gaia

Oh yeah, that's what I meant.....just make his tail/fins more frilly/longer/bigger.

As it stands now, I like the male a whole lot more then the female.  She looks so.. meh compared to him.  Not sure if this is just because of how fish are irl?  But I'd love to have "prettier" females as well as males, if you decide to offer differant frills for the males, maybe for the females too?

In real life the females are very dull compared to the males Kadana :)  The males have huge fancy fins (the first one Sarah posted is a Crowntail, very difficult to keep the fins nice on those! and the second is a Half Moon) The most common fin form is the Veil Tail, which are more flowy and drapy.

The fins on the male atm, mimic the Plakat fins, and the veil is much more common, so It might be more realistic to have them adjusted to the veileds.

*knows too much about betta's*

I think having a mutation done, would be interesting, but I think the origional lines should also be left as an option

Silvanon

I also like the idea of different fin types as mutations, with the current lines as an option.

I know....he needs to be cleaned up....but....what do you think?

Edit: Had to resize him.

It looks good but I think the base of the top fin is too skinny. If you look at the images you posted the top fin is the same width from where it connects to his body out. Otherwise I love the look of it!!

Sarah Badr

Thanks. On the reference pic I used it was actually smaller then what I made it.... :-\

Winged

I like it, but perhaps post examples of the other male and the female. I'm not sure if the two will fit well together now, are you planning on revamping the female too?

Ohh i love the flowyness!

If you decide to use as a mutation/option, and keep the old male lines still, will there be certain things we need to use to get the different options, or just random chance?

*has breeding in with a male of Silvs, so curious*

All female bettas pretty much look like how the betta female is currently drawn.

I'm going to do the other male fins as well, so there will be 3 different looks.

Hmmm, how about for custom turn-ins you can choose which pose you want? And, if you use the Magic Feed Bag with breedings, you can add a comment if you want the chance of your male babies possibly having any of the poses?

I think fruit baskets would maybe be a bit more suited for that sort of thing. Magic feed aren't really useful for bettas since they are already "fantasy"ish in color. Plus with using a fruit basket for that, it would help keep the mutations more rare since fruit baskets are harder to grt

SGA

But if we use a fruits basket to try and pick fins, then do we still get the litter size bonus?

I think the magic feed is a good idea simply because the fish are more fantasy anyway, so using one IS kind of pointless, and this would give them a use when breeding fishes.

Either way, I'm happy if there is the option to pick, I figured it would be more something we would have to breed for (and mess with genetics) so anything that doesn't make me do that, makes me happy lol
