Horse coat color/marking help please!

I am going through some of my older files, and have found some premades form some of my former colorists/guest colorists that never got used.  I am working now to resize and prep these for upload, but I could use some help.

I have found this male, and I just.. *flails* I dunno WHAT he is.  I don;t think he looks realistic, but could he be considered an off-colored at least?  I'm really trying to find a way to justify using every one of the premades I have found, since some of the colorists are either extremely low activity now, or gone entirely from Secundi.  I feel bad, to just delete the files unused :S

So, is there anyway, at all, to justify bringing this SC into Secundi under our current rule set?  If he is actually able to be labeled a natural and I just never seen it, then great!  If not, as I suspect, a natural, then can he be an off colored at all?  (please click the thumbnail, so you can see full detail)



For now, he is it.  I'll post any more I find as well.  I've already been lenient with a few I found, because as I said, I really hate to just delete them.  But I need to be able to justify it somehow, even if in a lenient (barely under the radar) sort of way.

I'm no horse expert, but I'd call him a blood bay if I saw him in real life. A really dark one, but still a bay. Idk about the appy looking markings, maybe leopard?

Blood Bay Leopard Appy, and maybe label as off-colored for the placement of the appy marking.  I can do that.

But what about that frayed edge looking bit of the solid color?  This is what has me hung up, it looks (to me) like someone shredded cloth.  Anything in the equine world I can relate that to?

Really, though, a lot of horses have strange.... hrms.... mutation is the only word i can think of, but it's not correct.  Like, there's a wild range of variety between leopard appaloosas.  <3  So you could claim maybe Rabicano, or shrug it off with a VERY strange sabino.  ^.~

Actually I think the frayed edges look as much like leopard appy as anything else.

ohh so I can label him as a natural then?  Blood Bay leopard appaloosa.. rabicano perhaps?  Or just drop the rabicano?

And thanks guys!  He is really pretty, and I didn't want to have to delete the file.  it's the last one colored by Losty.  I uploaded the rest already, he'll be the 17th (and final) one by her.  unless she comes back of course!

If you want to be completely accurate, he is a bay near leopard appaloosa.  xD. They are actually my favorite appaloosa markings, next to varnish to an.  Very pretty boy!

A near leopard appaloosa is a leopard appaloosa with moderate to large areas of non leopard marked base color.  Silv posted some great examples, and here are a few more.





Basically, it's a leopard appaloosa where the leopard spots don't cover the whole body.  Some can be mistaken as blanket appaloosa, and may require DNA testing.  Does that help clear it up?
