Sunder's pink nose snuffled on the edge of the table under my arm, and I chuckled and pushed his head away. "It's just a pile of mail, Sunder. Nothing to interest you." The Capranis snorted doubtfully, convinced I had some treat that I didn't want to share and was taking up all my attention.

He wasn't far off. Suddenly I gave a gleeful squee as I recognized the return address on one of the envelopes on top of the pile. I stood up quickly, causing my Eski stud to step back away from the chair that almost toppled over when my tail thrashed in excitement. "Sunder! I've been waiting for this! It's a letter from DawnStar!"

The Capranis cocked his head and watched me as I tore open the envelope. A pile of snapshots fell out into my open hand. I shuffled through the photos eagerly... then my eyes widened. Then I began to laugh.

"Well doesn't that beat all!" I chuckled to myself. I glanced down at my purebred Eski stud. "Congratulations, boy. You and Blu are grandparents to a bunch of mini mixies."

Sunder cocked his head the other way. Tentatively, his curled tail wagged.

Still amused, I crossed the kitchen to the cork board that hung on the wall next to the cabinet that held my Kennel's winning ribbons and trophies. At the top of the board I had pinned two photos of Sunder and Blu, the joys of my kennel (and both stunning Eski parents). Below them were four photos of the gorgeous puppies that had been born at my kennel what felt like only yesterday. Two of the four pups (now all grown up) had found homes with respected local Caprani kennels, and two remained with me.

When BKC, one of the kennel owners who had taken home Sunder's son Winter Glow, wrote me to say the boy had had a litter of his own, I had asked her if the dam's owner would send me pictures of the pups. The letter from DawnStar, who owned the female, had arrived today. Much to my surprise, the size of the colorful puppies and their short little legs told me that these pups were definitely half-Eski, half-Dendi!

Not what I had expected for my purebred Eski lines, to be sure, but they were a welcome addition to my kennel's lineage. I couldn't be happier to see my Caprani lines were continuing. Proudly, I grabbed some more pushpins and hung up the photos of the six adorable, healthy puppies right under Winter Glow's photo.

"Congrats, Winter Glow," I said to the Capranis' photo with a grin. "Way to go."

Eeee, love the mixed traits XD

Aw, this is cute. Sometimes I worry that pups don't look much like their parents but they all do look like a big happy family when you put them together.
