Hey .

I thought of something.
- I'm really bad at checkin for inbreeding, as i dont quite understand it or get it, but it would be amazing if there could be added some kind of percentage like on PI, so you can see that way if theres inbred or if you are.

Would just be nice to see it somehow :)

This would be helpful also to know if an animals inbred(ness) has been bred out already.  Like, if horse 1 is bred to its sister, and then the baby is bred to non family, and all the babies after are bred to non family, eventually you will come to a generation that is no longer considered inbred.  Wouldn't you?

That's what always confuses me, how far back in the family tree do you have to go, before inbreeding no longer is an issue?

So yes, an inbreeding percentage would be helpful.

Haha! This is funny, I was just thinking about making a thread like this the other day. Someone beat me to it. XD

Inbreeding is not much of an issue with me, personally. Most of the time I consider adoptables to be just digital pictures in my mind, almost like playing cards or figurines. So inbreeding isn't much of thing. (The exception for me is some of my special RP characters that have been made into adoptables.)

But, I totally understand that some people consider inbreeding to be a major issue. Lately I've noticed that this is starting to impact adoptable "value" here on Secundi. Like for example, Quin that are up for trade with inbreeding get little interest. And people are starting to ask for pedigree lines before accepting trades for Quin foals. Despite even the Quin agency page says that inbreeding is totally okay, since the Quin is such a breeding-heavy adoptable, inbreeding is still a big thing for people.

In order to return value to some of these agency critters, it would be great if there would be a way to quantify "how much" inbreeding a critter has (like a percentage, like used on PI). Something that people can identify and use to influence the value to a critter. Like, if a Quin only has 10% inbreeding, some people wouldn't mind trading for it. As opposed to a Quin that has like 90% inbreeding, that would be considered worth less.

I know this would be a major programming project for Sil to tackle, so I don't expect any sudden change for the site right away, but maybe this thread could get people talking and thinking up some ideas for this issue. :)

Yea, personally I don;t usually care about it, but I know there have been some animals up for trade that I was interested in, but because the owner qualified that they didn't want offers of animals with inbreeding, I turned away.  Simply because it's too much of a headache for me to try and check my animals to be sure of what I'm offering lol

The more people breed their pets the harder it will be.Honestly for a lot of what people won't trade for because it's inbred the percentage is very small. You only see percentages over 25% if the pair in question are parent/child, full siblings, 3/4 siblings or sibling cousins( Ex. Dad marries mom, has a kid, mom dies, dad marries mom's sister and has a kid, kids get married and have a kid). Everything else is 25% or below and the further away the child is from the common ancestor the smaller the number.

Saddly for me Inbreeding is an issue (*kicks PI*) so yeah, some way of seeing it would be fab. Just last season I found out 2 of my girls that I really loved and was super pleased with are inbred and its gutting. I've removed them from my breeding stock but I prolly wont bother offering them for trade as I know a Fair few people are like me..

This is my question too. I have just been tol one of my mares is inbre, but its 4 gens back andits just a small mistake back before I had control of. I would LOVE the percentage of inbreeding tool, or something like it so I wouldnt have to be so shocked and upset finding out the hard way.
My two (Mabye more, now that people keep pointing it out) girls I fell inlove with their colors, then found out they were inbred by small mistakes, and just wondered if mabye a percentage thing would help people value them more. I feel like my beautiful quin are a disease to other people sometimes. They're shunned and get offers of like, 200k. So I leave them up for trade until someone finds worth in them, or I grow too attached to let them go, but I dont breed them myself because I too don't enjoy inbreeding, but I'm not too put off about it. The only ones I care for inbreeding about is Feli and Quin because their so big on breeding, and the influence of others made me start caring.
