About Agency Applications

I was thinking that maybe it would be useful to have an ongoing thread where all the potential agencies could submit their applications, rather than opening applications every few months.

We could still only have votes every few months, but with an ongoing thread we'd be able to see how many adoptables are actually interested in becoming agencies, which could determine how often we vote. :)

I agree, this is a good idea for agency applications. :)

I have actually had this thought floating in the back of my head. I think it would be better to have a constant list of adopts, and once we get say 5 or so, we vote on which 3 become agencies while the other two remain on the list or something.

I'd be fine if it didn't work like this, but it seemed for a moment that we weren't going to get even three agencies this time around.

The problem I see with this idea is that we have not so many new people/adopts coming in anymore.  And if there are only say 2 new adopts in the next year or so, then it's not really fair for them to miss out on the chance to become an agency, just because there aren't more new adopts around to post to the "list".  If they are here and doing the hard work to be a part of the community, I think they should still have the chance to apply to become an agency, regardless of if there are 1 new adopt, or 20.  I think it's fine how it is now, people who are here and active and want to apply can, and if there happens to be only one or two applications, then OK sure they become agencies by default, but I don;t really see where there is a problem with that.

*shrug* sorry if I'm making myself unclear, just woke.  But basically, I see no pro's to changing how we do it now, but do see a con to changing it.

That is a good point with there possibly not being enough applications but I'm sure it could be dealt with on a case by case basis. Maybe even a simple yes/no vote?

The problem I see with the current system is that we've not actually been having regular application threads (nothing at all from January to November) and still there weren't many applications. I'm happy with the new agencies we're getting but as it stand now, any application would automatically be accepted due to lack of competition and I'm not sure if that's a good thing for secundi.
I also don't think it's fair to make people wait for months and months just to get a chance to apply. The longer it takes, the more pets have to be imported which makes agency status a little daunting.

I think the lack of regularity is the biggest issue here. We've been asking about a new agency vote for months now because there are a NUMBER of agencies that I can think of right now that could go for status (from Misplaced's beautiful if rarely grown adopts, to SPOs plushies, and the few that have been trying for ever like Minwyns and Panda Shrimp)
