Im bored of Warcraft atm due to some friend issues. Ive just started playing Grepolis, which im enjoying but there is a lot of waiting involved while things upgrade.. so im wondering if anyone can recommend a game for me?

I enjoy strategy games and RPG's.. something where I dont *have* to play with others would be good but not essential..

Not entirely free, but, no lie, i love GW2.  It's a game i don't mind kicking around on my own, but it's also a lot of fun to play with others.

Not that i've been gaming at all recently. :/

i have a lot of people pushing me to join LoL, but..... i don't know if it counts as a strategy game.....

I play EverQuest 2 and League of Legends.

EQ2 is free-to-play, and I find that they are very generous with their non-paying stuff. Granted, my account is Silver as I was grandfathered in from having an old account, but I have a freebie account too and don't find it as limiting as other Free to Play MMOs. I also find that the EQ community remains rather charming... something that I'll admit I found sorely lacking when I tried WoW and beta tested Rift, heh...

LoL is a lot of fun, though I found it a bit hard to really get the hang of at first. If you go in with MMO expectations for how to play the champions, it usually doesn't work out quite as well, lol. That being said, I have a blast now that I've figured it out more! There are a ton of champs to play, though it is something that requires other people (though you can do bot games), whether they be random strangers (who sometimes aren't very nice) or friends (who I much prefer and have a lot of fun with!)

atm I'm playing ourWorld.  You get a character that you can walk around, dress up, buy pets for etc.  You can interact with others but you don;t have to.  It has a bunch of little games you can play, which is why I play it.  They have 5 categories of games on there.  Puzzle, Strategy, Arcade, Matching and Action.  The games seem to be primarily demo's, basically the limited free versions that you can usually find online for playing before you buy the full version.  Just they are all in one place, so i don;t have to keep popping form site to site to play.

I would check out Nexon's line of games, all of them are for the most part free to play, with many paid options. That being said many of the games (Mabinogi, Maple story) give free pets to starting characters. ^.^ Also check out Aion if you're into angels, its got PVP at later levels but I've been enjoying the game very much after a friend of mine showed it to me. There is also Perfect World. I imagine that when you want to go conquer instances and things, you'll need to party up (in any of the games im suggesting) But yes...Mabinogi and Maple Story you can have quite a bit of fun with solo.

Hmm.. I believe GW2 and wow are fairly similar? Trying to get a bit of a change so I may skip that one for now, maybe use it as a reserve ^^

I might look into Everquest, it depends how involved it is, i tend to like games I can pick up and drop when I wish to.

I know my hubby tried LoL and found it fairly difficult to get the hang of but maybe i'll ask him about it!

Hmm.. not too sure ourWorld is what im looking for atm

OMG! Maple Story! I remember that game! Im gonna have to look into it and see if it will run on a mac!

Aion sounds kinda interesting, might have to look that up, though im no good at all at pvp!

Mabinogi... i feel like i know the name.. might have to look into it.

Thanks guys!

Yep, so BKC is sad.. MapleStory is not mac compatible  :'(

Saturnalia

I'd recommend EQ2 over EQ1, but both are free at this point, I think. They are very similar to WoW, in many ways, though, so if you want a big change, they might not be your best bet!

I'll admit that I hated LoL the first time I played it. I was super confused and had no idea of what to do, haha. There's a pretty big learning curve, I guess, but they've since added some more low-key modes of play and it can be a good time. I highly recommend playing a ton of bot games before jumping into any sort of pvp games, though.

Thats a shame about maple! >< Mabinogi is very fun though for its vast ability to customize your clothing with dyes (though dying can be difficult until you get the hang of the infuriating mini game >>; )and because there are just so many costumes available. Its not like the usual MMO either, with the ability to specialize in a class but play ALL classes on a character regardless of level, its very open and fun, though the world is a bit small. Im...not sure if it will run on a mac x.x;

And LoL is very fun! ^.^ I would give it a try, its a bit confusing at first but I had a blast playing it the first time and have actually taken it up again.

Trying to sort out one of the ways to run a virtual OS on my mac.. so keeping fingers crossed!

If not, i may try one of the others!

Bunraku

Hope you succeed! ^.^ If you like, I can go look for some information about running maple on virtual OS, someone on nexon's forums probably is doing the same so I'm sure there must be a solution.

Sure thing! Any and all help is appreciated! Looks like i will be using Oracles VM and *hopefully* Windows XP
