Well I can add another wonderful fast food experience to my list! >.< Today I dropped a fried mushroom into the fryer oil and it splashed up and covered my entire pinky finger. Soo...much...pain...! (Fryer oil is about 400 degrees, blah..)

I've never had a serious burn before, but I think I got off pretty lucky. The skin isn't peeling and doesn't seem to be blistering. It's very pink but not angry red. But it hurts A LOT. I'm keeping it on ice and I have been since I got the burn two hours ago.

Anyone else had a grease burn before? Should I keep it covered? Air it out? Keep it dry? Any advice would be appreciated. I called my mom and she said to buy some antiseptic cream and to also go to the hospital. I have no monies for the hospital, but it doesn't seem that bad, anyway. I mean maybe it it was all blistering and peeling I would, but it's just very pink and painful.

This is going to sound like the wierdest thing ever, it works for me and my mother idk why its an old wives tell i thought but it came from my great grandmother.

Apply mustard to the entire area, i honestly dont know why it works but it takes that horrid sting away for me at least!

-i looked it up really quick just to make sure i wasnt giving you crazy advice from my crazy family and surley enough its all over the place. So try mustard! leave it on to even if it drys!-

I only have a traumatizing experience with oil burns, and it wasn't even mine OTL
When my mom and I moved into an apartment complex after she divorced, the oldest daughter of the family next to us had terrible grease burns all over her face and arm.....it made me terrified of cooking oil...so I stand about 10 feet away from the pan with long sleeves and oven mitts in when I use it OTL;;;
(like it was very siimilar to THIS )
You should be thankful it was only your pinky, and it's not scarring XD

but sadly I cannot offer any advice, other than just keeping the ice on it. Unless perhaps you visit a drug store and buy some cream made specially for burns to put on it?

I cant give medical advice, but I personally have never gone to the hospital for a burn. Then again, I not only didn't go to the hospital when my percheron horse slid on an embankment and broke my toe, I also ran track practice that day lol.

*hugs, carefully, not touching pinky*

Get burn cream/gel, not antiseptic.  It's two differant things entirely.

I worked in the IGA deli once upon a time, and got a grease burn form the chicken fryer.  It was small, but it did blister.  Almost immediately.  I honestly think I was better off, For some reason, when they blister I can "deal" with the pain a lot easier then if they don't.  Keep the ice handy, and get some burn cream or gel form the store, and keep that applied.  Hope it gets better soon.

My step mom works in a kitchen and they all put bleach on a burn.  I dont know why but alot of people say it works.

I have also heard vinagar works. =)

Hope your finger feels better soon.

I've heard that as, heard a lot of folks use it for sun burns even.  They say it draws the pain away.  I never actually tried it however, I can;t stomach the smell lol
