Welcome to the shelter! Here you will find a variety of mutts and moggies looking for loving forever homes. Just because they aren't purebreds doesn't mean they are any less amazing! These are some of the sweetest critters you'll ever meet <3 Will you come and adopt one today?
Adoption Process
Once upon these babies had loving homes before they ended up at the shelter. We really want them to find a forever home this time. To help with that we asked an animal behavior expert to analyze all the pets. Dogs are tested on their friendliness, playfulness, energy level, motivation and drive. Cats are assessed based on level of interest in play, exploring, "talking," and being the center of attention. We've divided them in three colors, each color having three subcategories.
We will be using a survey to determine what type of pet will fit into your lifestyle. Please fill one out to adopt a pet. There are no right or wrong answers! Simply answer what applies to you. If no answer is quite right then pick the closest match. You can't leave a question blank.
After that it's up to you! We will check over your answers and give you a subcategory that matches you and your lifestyle. Move into our shelter and meet the mutts/moggies! It is up to you to select one to take home :D You can adopt one that matches your subcategory without any trouble (i.e. post the image of the one you want), but we're confident other subcategories of the same color can be a good fit too. If you thought it through and decide to do that, just let us know (i.e. along with the pet's image you must write a little RP blurb of why you chose this pet and you can take home a pet of matching color but wrong subcategory).
((For thematic reasons all pets are up for bid instead of us transferring them over, this way the pet will have a sales history showing their previous home in our shelter!))

We would like to avoid aggression problems and territorial issues due to the age of our son. When i come home from work i love being greeted with meows and having my ankles rubbed on. A cat that talks back to me, and gives me the feeling we hold conversations is perfect

It's most important to me that my cat... isn't to dependent on human interaction, can entertain herself/hisself if need be while his/her people are at work. when wanting affection isn't overly obnoxious about it. can be boisterous and full of energy but not to the point of causing to much disturbance. isn't to laid back, to where it want's to sleep all the time. i actually don't mind a vocal cat at all, at the same time it doesn't bother me if they don't want to chatter.

18. It's most important to me that my dog... Be good with really young children, i.e a new born baby. Not be so much a "guard" dog, but an "alert" dog is fine. Play. I love to rough house (not too rough), and i enjoy running around playing with sticks with dogs, so a dog that has enough energy to run around and fetch is great. But not so much energy that she is required to have a huge field to play in, because of where i live, she will be inside most of the time, and when she goes out, it has to be on a leash.... Mostly I want a companion that can tell when i'm upset and will do his/her best to make me feel better. A cuddly dog i awesome, not necessarily ALL the time, but sometimes is nice.

18. It's most important to me that my dog... is not super duper needy 'omg i need to be all over you 100% of the time!!'. Good with horses and respectful of the space of other animals is a plus. Trainable enough to be off-leash on a farm or on a trail ride without getting into trouble. Alert for changes & new people/things, but still friendly and not high-strung.
Though we have an active toddler if much prefer a slightly less playful kitten but one that is still involved and loving. I think this leader of the band will be a better fit for us.

Walking through the kennels to the section I've been told I'll find a good match for a dog I glance side to side at the sad pups waiting for thier forever home. I notice this pup as I stride by but after a few more steps I stop, compelled to go back to him. I stand and look at him for a moment before crouching down and talking quietly to him. After a moment he approaches and I let him sniff at my hand. Slowly his tail begins to wag. I think I've found an instant connection with this pup and I would love to give him the home he needs.

I'm sorry, but he does not match your color (orange). You can adopt from another subcategory of the same color if the Busy Bee dogs aren't love at first sight for you,

Continuing my walk along the kennels I arrive at the section I have been indicated will be the best fit. Looking at the pups here the busy bees seem a bit too busy and hyper active and I worry they will be a bit too boisterous with my children (who are right wusses!) I glance over and see this sweet lil boy with his head cocked to one side and an amusing expression on his little face. His soft brown eyes search mine and I can't help but smile. I think I might have found the pup for me.

sera's spent a few hours playing with kitties, happy to see when a cat is chosen and taken home amidst pleased smiles, and happy mews. There are some absolutely gorgeous cats here, and whilst she's waiting to meet some cats in the suggested subcategory--she certainly doesn't want to rush the lovely people who had gotten here before her--she strolls around to give them privacy.
She's surprised to see a little white paw batting between the bars of a dark colored cage. Curious, sera wanders over and is stopped by a pair of pale blue eyes and a very pointed, "Mrrruow?"
Charmed, sera draws close and reaches out her hand to lightly tap on the extended paw. "Well, hello there, sweetie."
Instant purrs reward her attention and sera laughs when the white paw circles around just enough to bat at the top of her hand. "Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you, too!"
It's obvious that the cat is interested in listening so sera begins chatting about her house and the three dogs there. "And Link is always so anxious, but he's really starting to bloom!"
She doesn't realize she's been there for fifteen minutes until someone comes to check on her. With an embarrassed laugh, sera glances over at the cat she's been hanging out with. "Uhm... is there anyway that this one might be available?" She can't help the hopeful gaze, especially when the cat sticks her paw out again to bat at the shelter worker, as though to encourage them to be a part of the conversation as well.

"I want a low-key cat." Nako said as she sat down in the 'Orange Room', a color point kitty jumping up into her lap. She sat the cat back down.
"A cat that'll give me attention when I am in the mood for it. You know, a perfect cat." The little moggy sat down on her feet and groomed itself. Nako stood up to check out the cats on some carpet-lined shelves, and little moggy chased her shoestrings.
"I want a cat that likes toys." Nako went to pick up a toy, and little moggy grabbed her sleeve. Oh no, don't choose that one. Choose the one with the feathers, obviously. Your neck sure looks cold, human. I'll just rest there.
Nako sighed and pet the living cat scarf. "Or you know, this cat'll be great too."

As I head down the hallway to the room where the more rambunctious cats are playing together, I pass a quiet kitten laying in a cage near the entrance. She gives me a look and reaches out her paw through the bars as I pass by, trying to reach me. I am easily won over by a girl who seems so intent on making a connection with me and I ask to adopt her.
