OK, so I have been in and out of other peoples Join Me's, and my own as well, and.. the best part about these is the ability to chat, live, with Secundi users. As opposed to PM's, or posting, which is fine of course, but not for holding conversations, not really.
I typically have Yahoo Messenger, and I like it. It does have problems now and then, but I think everything does..
But I have found that the majority of you seem to not use Yahoo, for various reasons. Which means I don't get to chat with folks hardly at all. I would like to be able to have actual conversations with people more often, but I don't want to download a bunch of different chat programs to do so.
I wish, as I have in the past, that our forums had a built in chat room. I forget what answer I received, it's been a really long time. So I can't remember why we don;t have one.
But barring that, I maybe can get one different messenger to use. But how do I pick?
So I was wondering, what the majority of you use. What would be the best thing for me to get, to communicate/converse with you guys? Keeping in mind, I am opposed to MSN's messenger for personal reasons, and I have tried Gchat and highly dislike it.
Ideally, I would like something that I can use to converse privately, one on one with someone, as well as group chat, where several of us can go and converse all together (like in the Join Me's, but without the Join Me and it's lag).
when it comes to Wild I use facebook, it is just easiest
for others I use skype, but I only have a few people I chat with regularly.
For the most part, I keep my facebook chat turned off. if it gets turned on I get spammed with game friends asking me to log games and do this or that. Since gaming is the primary reason I have a FB account to begin with, I have mostly game friends on there, not people I really know lol
Does Skype have a chatroom type feature, or is it just strictly one on one conversations?
Yeah I use Facebook for whoever I can. Otherwise I just pm on secundi. I don't want a bunch of messengers on my pretty new laptop so I deal with it xD
Most of the time when I do go online on an IM (which isn't often these days) I use Trillian, which lets me log into MSN, Yahoo, AIM, Facebook and I forget what else, all at once.
Skype does have a chatroom type feature, although in my case I tend to forget to log on for days at a time so it's not a super reliable way to get in touch with me. But when I chat, that's what I use.
Is there a way we could use a chatango chat box?
I use Skype.. I had Trillian, but after one of my OS updates it stopped working! So Now im reduced to Skype cos nothing else works on my mac!
The only chat I've used recently is Facebook. I used to have over 1000 "friends" on FB but I deleted them all down to about 20 or 30 (mostly family and family friends). I'm always logged into Yahoo chat, but the only person I talk to on there is my hubby. Give me your Yahoo ID and we can chat on there. I stay logged in there because I never know when he can get online.
I used to use Skype alot...years ago...but it's just too slow on the connection I have now and freezes up my computer.
I pretty much only use fb chat and gmail chat but I'm not big on chatting anyway. :)

Just for info..but Skype took over msn so they are now technically the same im system. Trillion and digsby are good programs if you have accounts in multiple im systems: yahoo, aim, icq, etc. (not so good for Skype yet ) you can log into all of them from just one program. (Digsby will let you use "Skype" but you will only see the people who have msn accounts instead of pure skype accounts so...yea skype hasn't been geared yet in either system >.o ))
I'm with Silvanon-- I use Trillian, so that I can combine messengers. Mainly, though it, I use AIM, MSN & Yahoo Messenger. I also have Skype, though mainly use that for voice-chatting while gaming, but I do always keep it signed in pretty much.

Ahah I didn't know that about msn and skype. And I had trillion, a very long time ago, but when I got a new machine it wouldn't work properly, kept being buggy and such so I don;t have that anymore. Also, yea, it doesn't have a chatroom function, that I know of. Which is 'ultimately' what I am after lol

And I'd love something similar to mIRC actually, but that doesn't require download, so people could pop in and chat in the same room. But also with the private message window capabilities. I think if it didn't require a download, it would be easier for folks to at least try it out.
It does seem like there is a pretty diverse selection of messenger options, just not quite hat I want/need lol
Ideally, the "chat room" idea can be used for during RP's sometimes, instead of keeping them strictly on threads. I do so miss live rp's, in chat rooms or in person.

In Skype, it's super easy to set up chat rooms, you can even start with a private chat and expand it into a chat room. Though anyone you add can't see anything that was messaged before they entered.
I have a chat room going with Sera, SPO, Spring, Sunny, Saturn, River, and a friend that I'm trying to get onto Secundi ^^
I love chatting with fellow Secundians, it always brightens up my day ^^
