Keep a close eye on transactions, check daily if you're able.  I just got through the process of failing fraud claims and getting a new debit card issued, because someone got my card number.  I can't prove anything, but I have my suspicians they got it via my Amazon account.

I've not actually purchased anything from Amazon in so long, they still had my old card number listed as my payment method.  When I went to download my daily free books for kindle (which I had been doing daily with no problem) I got routed to my account log in area and asked to log in and update my card info.

I became suspicious because 1. I had been downloading the free daily books for going on a month now, and never been required to update my payment info.  And 2. I was already logged in to begin with.  I immediately closed the site, and even the browser, restarted firefox, and went to Amazon site via the link I usually use form my email (as opposed to the link for the free daily).  I did go ahead and update my card info then, since it was out of date, and signed back out.

I thought I was being safe doing it that way :S  But less then 24 hours later, I had charges to my bank that I didn't make.  I feel like an idiot.  I do feel somewhat better however, since the bank lady told me that she has been seeing a lot of charges from these "companies".  She also said they had got her as well.

Anyway, I've wracked my brain trying to think of all possibilities for how they got my card info.  I'm usually pretty good about keeping receipts, or destroying them.  I do shop online, but hadn't in some time.  I have a NF account tied to my debit card to be auto deducted, but that has been set up for years now.  The only thing I can come up with that is different then usual is the Amazon thing.

Anyway, I just wanted to warn you all, the bank lady said I would have had a lot harder time of it if I hadn't caught it so fast.  (I contacted them while the transactions were still listed in the pending area).

Oh, and if it helps any, these are the "companies" that were trying to bill me.

Thanks, I have deleted my card and bank account from Amazon.^^ I haven't purchased anything from there in while away. Not since going back to ioffer.lol
