*Starlight Taverns* Possibility of New Lines?

So I know I haven't really established them in an rp setting yet and there aren't quite 100 of the current lines out, but what do you guys think of new lines? This is more for new templates, not more custom poses (which more will happen for those of you who want the chance for them). I was heavily considering adding 'mutations' of sorts (bob tailed, folded ears, etc) that would just be their own lines instead of edits to the current ones, but I don't want to show up with more lines when everyone is fine with the current three we have.

So... What does Secundi think? Do you like the idea of more lines? Do you want them to be natural mutations you see in regular cats? Are you interested in possibly seeing some more fantasy-ish mutations (wings, mostly)? Should the Starlight Taverns include other species?

I would really love to hear your thoughts on this as I value input highly, especially on a decision like this.

there are three lines? O.O  I only remember seeing two, not counting custom posed..

More poses are always nice, but not a huge draw back to do without.  As it is now it's easy for me to know gender, males standing, females sitting.  So that's a benefit to having just these poses.  but more poses does mean more options, and again, that's always nice.

Fantasy mutations and markings sound intriguing, but ultimately i think you need to be comfortable with it.

The questions are..

1. Can YOU see fantasy working/fitting in with your shops story?

2. Do you think you can color non-fantasy exclusively, without getting bored/burnt out?  (That's what happened to me with SC's, I love them, but after so many realistically colored horses, I got bored coloring them).

3. When considering doing fantasy, consider also if you will offer fantasy customs.  And if so, keep in mind some of the customs that people tend to request on a fairly regular basis, some look quite difficult, and (to me at least) extremely daunting.  One of the reasons I made the SC's non fantasy colored to begin with lol

The kitten lines. XD They're smaller, but they will be used. And to answer your questions...

1. Yes. The Starlight Tavern adopt definitely has the capability to give a fantasy element. There is technically magic, but it isn't meant to be something the players can control. This adds a degree of mobility in the nature of the world and the cats themselves that rests in what the community wants. As much fun as fantasy can be, keeping things natural can also add a nice effect and can make for some really enjoyable settings.
2. I think so. I think I'm more at risk of becoming disinterested if people themselves lose interest, but since I haven't ran this for nearly as long as the Colibri, I can't tell for sure.
3. I definitely considered doing fantasy, and since - as you mentioned - a lot of the customs people have are fantasy, I will probably end up doing them. However, the description they are given won't reflect their fantastical nature and their offspring will be based off their description and not the visual appearance. I do realize that some of the customs people have are extremely detailed, I don't mind doing them if it makes people happy.

Lectral

I love the idea of possible kitty mutations (especially the mentioned folded ears); I would not mind new poses to represent them, but I agree that having the 'male standing/female sitting' is a very convenient way to keep track of males vs females

As far as fantasy goes, I am probably a minority, judging by a lot of the other shops, but I prefer naturals.  Aside from the wings question, that is... I have always been a fan of kitties with featherwings (loved Catwings... and in my first D&D game, desperately tried to get the DM to allow me a tressym - unfortunately, we were not in a Forgotten Realms setting, and he said no >.>).  So I would not mind wings, but would still prefer natural type colors/patterns to go with them.

As far as other species... I would be content with just kitties >.>

Ember

I'm going to be echoing Lectral a bit here. I do love the idea of mutations that cats frequently have in real life. I also wouldn't be adverse to a couple fantasy mutations, since their world does have magic and therefore has logical reasoning behind it.

Considering the fact that you'll be following descriptions of the kitties genetics-wise, I'd say it's probably easier to stick to real colours/patterns in general. Given the variety between cats as it is right now I don't think not adding fantasy markings/colours will detract too much.

I'm also content with the 3 lines as they are, but new poses might also be nice to see. :)

SkySong

So it would be easier to edit the lines themselves instead of new lines entirely for new mutations (At least for now)? If I did new lines chances are there wouldn't be one sitting and one standing.

The mutations I had originally had in mind after looking at the general cat breeds were folded ears, bat ears(Think Savannahs), round ears (More like a big cat), curled ears, bob tail, half tail, long hair, and possibly munchkin, although that would take a bit of effort for the female pose. I also thought something like a lion's main might be cute, and there would probably be feathered/bat wings if we went that way. (I'd attempt rex, but I'm not sure how to portray it easily in the style I'm using. It seems like it'd turn out looking awkward instead of like an accurate portrayal.)

Lectral

I love the style you're using :)

Munchkin would probably be one of the few that might need a whole new line set (at least for the female), if you went that way, just because they are so different

Will definitely be stalking for potential custom pose, though >.>

DawnStar7

I like the idea of additional lines, if they're incorporated with mutations, similar to the Feli, but more gender biased, so it remains easy to tell male from female.  I also love, LOVE, the idea of fantasy.  Not just fantasy mutations, but other creatures.

I would love to see minor dragons.  If anyone here has ever read the Dragon Keeper series by Donita K. Paul, you know what I'm talking about.  If you haven't, you should, because they're great books.  But the Minor Dragons in these books are, when full grown, are about the size of a large kitten.  They come in a wide variety of colors, and their color determines their gift, or talent.  For example, green dragons are healers, brown dragons are fixers, purple dragons are hosted in music, etc.  They can mindspeak, with a combination of words and images, and their diet consists mostly of insects and occasionally small rodents.

But yes, I'm all for new mutations, additional lines, and fantasy!  xD

Silvanon

I'd love to see more poses, and I'm not terribly opinionated about the rest.

Panda Shrimps

I do very much like the idea of more poses, because I love variety XD I think with things like Munchkin a new pose is probably neccessary, but even without this, I like more poses lol.

I don't feel like you have to stick to females in one type of pose and males in another, it isn't that hard to list which kitty is which gender, perhaps add a M or F to their URLs/filenames so it's easy to remember what gender your kitty is. And once (not if, once :P) you make Agency the gender thing defenitely wouldn't be a problem anymore as it's easy to see when viewing your pet page. I also wouldn't be opposed to just making all poses, including the current two, gender neutral instead.

I'm similair to Lectral on most other points: I'd be happy with just kitties too, and I strongly prefer natural coats. I do like the idea of mutations based off RL cats, and also feather/bat/fairy wings.

Rosedawn

Totally agree with everyone about mutations and be line I love variety, however I'm the opposite of YLO in regards to the poses being specific. I like having a male and female pose.

YourLoveOnly

I don't mind having a different male and female either, but I also like variety and making them all gender neutral would give more choice :P But I don't mind much either way. I just thought it'd be nice to be able to get a custom kitty in any of the available poses :) (mostly if you have a character with a personality and a certain pose fits just right, it's sad if it's the wrong gender xD)

SkySong

I've added a new poll. If you want a question added, just let me know! Sorry it's formatted so weirdly. I couldn't think of a better way to do it.

Sleeping Ocean

I personally feel that the fantasy element involved in the adoptable could possibly allow room for both fantasy coloration and mutations-especially wings. I want wings, yes, yes I do.

As for fantasy colors, I'd love to see it happen. I know many people prefer naturals, but that doesn't mean you have to limit the adoptable to just naturals- people can always pick and choose what they want to collect. There are already so many adoptables on secundi with limitations of that nature, and in a world where magic can happen, I think its only reasonable to include the possibility of fantasy coloration even if it might be rare.

SGA

I am a bit confused on the 3rd question in the poll "new lines entirely?" are you considering doing away with the current lines?

Oh no, sorry about that. I would do mutations on new lines instead of editing the current ones.

I thought that might be it, but then it seemed like the same as question 1 if it was, so figured you meant new lines entirely hehe

Wait... I didn't actually look up. -_- I'm not doing well tonight. I meant add other lines. Like Dawn liked the idea of dragons... Major fail, really sorry.
