yea, I have MS office 03 on my comp, but I need 07. Am a bit.. peeved, that they are forcing me to upgrade, but saying I need an older version still. Walmart people act like I'm insane, and smarted off how "we upgrade just like everyone else!"
And the college bookstore doesn't carry it either. Walmart was actually where they sent me lol The lady at Walmart suggested I try going to Microsoft themselves for a copy. but meh that would cost more I think?
Annd have to replace my CD drive since I will be attending classes online form home, and will need a working one. Mine stopped working some ime ago. The comp guy quoted me 200 bucks to order and install one. He tried making it sound like such a good deal, that 200 would cover the cd drive, the tax, S&H and instalation.. I found one at Walmart for $52. So I grabbed that, and am hoping like heck it will work. It does everything my current one used to do, plus some.. just not sure if it will "fit" inside it, as I have a little shuttle comp..
And then to wait and see if my PELL grant is approved lol!

yikes, $200 is crazy high o.O ours cost $20 to replace just cause it was a discontinued model. hopefully it does fit, cd drives shouldn't differ that much ever if the computer is different.

You sure it specifically has to be Word '07 and not at least Word '07? It seems really strange to require outdated software and a huge pain if they won't at least stock something in the school bookstore for students that will be difficult to hunt down. I'd at least ask if they'd allow Word 2010, it'll be a lot easier to track down and probably cheaper.

Not all of the Words are nicely backwards compatible, ironically or not. So if you got the newest Word, you'd have to take note of how you saved every time. They also change how to do certain things-- sorry, i can't remember any examples-- so forcing all of the students to have the same version tends to be easier on the teacher, even if it's not very indicative of the real world.
I really hate the newer word, cause you gotta save with .doc or older versions can't open it up. Last school year if I accidently saved in the new file, I couldn't open before class to print and would have to ask the teacher to let me have another day ><
And on a Jumper related note, I just colored one who looks ugly but represents earth :D and I like the clouds. they're purtiful xD

On another adoptie related note, I'm hoping to snag a set of lineart that's fully templated already so I don't get cut off from people and get left with unfinished things like with the mustela (minkie hasn't logged on in 2 months), fallen shadows (kat hasn't sent any messages for over a month), the stone gazelles i had from tubbagrl (red hasn't updated in over a year), and probably some other adopties i've long since forgotten about. How is this related to secundi? I don't know. hopefully might get to bring them here, but we'll have to see.....if i even get them. only have 9 mil and auto buy is 15 mil so that's kinda a big gap ><
