Poll for the RP Participants

As many of you know, I had planned to finish the RP before holding any other events for the new lines.  But life circumstances seems to have hit many of the RP'ers, including my own family to an extent.

So I want to go ahead and hold more/other events for the new lines before the RP is finished.  But I want to know what you, the folks participating in the RP, think.

Should I..

1. Keep the RP open, and we finish it at a slower pace then originally intended, and go ahead and open new events while the RP is active.  Then when the RP is complete, we just pretend there was some time warp anomaly, and the RP happened before the other events?

Or

2. should I just go ahead and close the RP down, and call it off now, and then do any new events, and "hand write" the rest of the back-story for discovery of the new lines?
