Title: Suggestion for managing agency pets
Post by: jojo on July 21, 2012, 04:18:47 PM
I think it would be really awesome if we could sort pets into arbitrary categories. For example, I just created a thread in the Trading Booth to documents all the pets I'm willing to trade. This way, whenever I want to offer something, I can just link to the thread in my offer and people can browse at their leisure without worrying about whether or not I'm willing to give a particular pet up. It seems to be working well XD

It's be awesome if we could build this into the Secundi website somehow (like, being able to label pets in batches), and then people can just go to people's display pages and click the list of pets that are in a particular category (such as "willing to trade"). This way, they're able to look at the pet's information directly without the owner having to manually create a list of links.

Hope that makes sense. :)

You could do what YLO does and put up pets you want to trade for bid :) Then you can just link to the search page for each agency instead of to each pet.

Ah ok, that's another way of doing it :D Thanks! I guess I was just thinking it'd be nice to have a direct, built in way of categorizing outside of just having to browse by agency. The labels could  be flexible, like "next breeding" or "favorites" or "mimic pets" or "<character name> pets". Stuff like that. Just randomly thinking. XD

-nods- I always use the Secundi search and search for me as the owner, select an Agency and select Yes for pets up for bid and then give people that link so they can view them all on one page (well, one page per agency anyway)

My thread: http://www.secundi.net/forum.php?topic=6285.0
Example: http://www.secundi.net/agencycrittersearch.php?AgencyID=19&CritterAgencyID=&CritterID=&Name=&Description=&AgencyInfo=&OwnerName=&OwnerID=10&Gender=0&Generation=0&UpForSale=0&SellMin=&SellMax=&UpForBid=1&BidMin=&BidMax=&LevelMin=&LevelMax=&OrderBy=CritterID (or a clickable link like this (http://www.secundi.net/agencycrittersearch.php?AgencyID=19&CritterAgencyID=&CritterID=&Name=&Description=&AgencyInfo=&OwnerName=&OwnerID=10&Gender=0&Generation=0&UpForSale=0&SellMin=&SellMax=&UpForBid=1&BidMin=&BidMax=&LevelMin=&LevelMax=&OrderBy=CritterID) because the link is so long XD)

And if a pet is on hold for someone I usually just change the name of the pet to ON HOLD xD

And you can already change the order of your pets, just not give them different categories. Honestly that would just annoy me if I had to browse that many different sections XD I usually just order my characters first and then my random pets.

Well, if you want to group together various pets in a way that they can be searched for by that group, you could just put something unique in their description box.  Descriptions are searchable.

You don't even have to divide by agency if you don't want to. I would just put any pets I want to trade up for bid, and then do a search for Owner: Ryuukokoro, Bids: Yes

example:

http://www.secundi.net/agencycrittersearch.php?AgencyID=0&CritterAgencyID=&CritterID=&Name=&Description=&AgencyInfo=&OwnerName=Ryuukokoro&OwnerID=&Gender=0&Generation=0&UpForSale=0&SellMin=&SellMax=&UpForBid=1&BidMin=&BidMax=&LevelMin=&LevelMax=&OrderBy=CritterID
