Why does writing a Personal Statement have to be so hard?

Ive made the decision to go to uni now that I finally know what interests me and what field of work I would like to go into (its only taken me like 10 years!) but omg.. id forgotten how hard it is to write a personal statement. I know why I want to attend the course but putting that and my enthusiasm to my chosen subject into words is just a nightmare! I keep feeling like im rambling on. Since im trying to go through clearings and get in this september it really needs to catch the tutor's eye and stand out.

i would start by rambling my way through it, then have someone ask you point blank wot it is.  For some reason, that tends to help me really focus wot i'm trying to say. ^^  You could also try outlining your main points and then write up a little blurb from that.
