So I'm pretty clueless about dogs and their coats... I can usually recognise merle and such, but some I just don't have a clue! I'd like my doggies to have their coats recorded in their info... so I have a proposition for anyone who thinks they can help me.

I will offer to either colour a litter for you (using your own bed), or give you 1 of my pups from one of my own litters for each 3 breeds you go through and accurately list their coats for me. some breeds I only have a couple of, some I have more. For anyone who's willing to tackle my spaniels (cockers) I'll do 2 litters, or offer 2 puppies to- since there are so many...

The following breeds need doing:
Cocker Spaniels: 44- ponymama
Springer Spaniels: 7- springacres
King Charles Cavalier: 10
English Setters: 8 (soon to be 12)- springacres
Mala's: 12- ryuu
Afghans: 5- ryuu
Border Collies : 12- springacres
NSDTR: 8
Sammies: 6
Cresteds: 12- ponymama
Ladrador: 5
iggies: 14 (5 pups)- ponymama
Poms Ryuu
Elkhounds:

I don't need anything in return! I'm not sure if my info is 100% correct, lol. Also in the dog world it can get confusing when you go from breed to breed... for example a bluish sheepdog with black patches is called merle, but a bluish dachshund with black patches is called dappled. Same gene, just different breeders call it different things. And with some breeds, a white dog with black patches is called parti-colored (like poodles) and sometimes it's called harlequin (like with Great Danes). But this is what I think...

Malamutes:
Name Me: sable with white
Tyson: tri-color (the official word for a black, tan, and white)
Casha: red ticked (hard to tell, looks kinda fantasy-ish)
Freddie: sable with white
Miko: golden brindle with white (technically fantasy, brindles don't come in gold lol)
Ariel: tri-color (but with red in place of black, so maybe call it red tri-color?)
Tika: Blue merle with white
Lola: red with white
Celeste: blue with white
Spirit: black and white (also called bi-colored, or parti)
Sasha: tan with white
Sira: Sable with white
Indira: sable with white
Maisie: dark sable with white

Collies:
Sammy: red merle with white
Nissa: tri-color with parti

Poms:
Bonnie: blue merle with tan
Gabanna: fawn
Dolce: cream
Rex: black and tan
Holly: sable and white
Tinkerbell: blue merle

Chi's:
Dusty: red and tan
Sammy: bi-colored red and white
Keira: tri-color

Afghans:
Delano: blue merle with tan and white
Shantih: tri-color
Kaila: blue merle with tan and white
Cora: blue merle with tan and white
Suki: dark sable with white

Things to remember about dog coats: Like horses and cats, the primary colors are black and red. Dilute black and you get blue or gray. Dilute red and you get cream/fawn/biscuit/offwhite/whatever you want to call it. And like cats and horses, white is a modifier that covers the other color in certain parts. So a white dog with black patches is actually a black dog with a loooot of white modifier covering almost all of its fur.

Oh, what is sable: Sable is when you have a piece of fur that changes color. It's lighter brown at the tips, for example, and darker brown or black at the base of the hair, near the skin. Obviously that is hard to express in coloring digital dogs, so usually if I see a Kennel dog with various shades of brown on its body, I assume the artist was trying to express the shade-shifting appearance of sable fur. :)

What is merle: Merle is when you have a dilution gene that is only hitting some of the fur. So when you see a blue merle, you're seeing a black dog where only some of the fur is being diluted to blue/gray. A red merle is a red dog where the dilution is making some areas lighter red (or cream).

At least, I think this info is all correct. ^^;; Please feel free to correct me, anyone!

You have SOOOOO many cockers, so going through them and trying to match correctly is taking the longest, but I am having fun and learning.  Most yours are considered Parti, but I am trying to grasp the other markings (ones that are mostly black with like the snip, is considered a solid *shrugs*)

ETA: Let me know if I missed someone, I think I got them all, but it is late.  I will PM you in the morning, I would love a litter of puppies (adult images only) but not too sure which ones yet

the last two breeds are slightly harder due to lack of actual coat colors available, so I had to go by another breeds colors (I went by the Cockers because I had looks at so many yesterday)

Sammies:
Samoyeds have 3 acceptable colors according to the standard: white, cream, and biscuit.

Polar   : Blue Merle
Garneyisdonelet    (M): Sable
Fabrice: White with Gold Brindle
Garneyisdonelet (F): Red Merle
India: White and Cream
MPKs Muddy Water: Brown Merle

King Charles Cavalier:
The breed has four recognized colours: Black and Tan, Blenheim, Ruby and Tri Color

Harry: red and Brown Tri
Harvey: Blue Merle Tri with Tan
Tommy:  Blenheim (rich chestnut markings on a pearly white background)
Poppy: Tri Color
Charlotte: Blue Merle ? (this is my best guess)
Daisy: Gold Brindle
Lola: Tri Color
Ritz Cracker: Sable
Sally: Ruby Tri ? (this is my best guess)
Harriet: red merle (this is my best guess)
