I just loved that seahorse photo someone posted a few days ago, so I just had to draw up one. Not finished....but almost. The sketching part is easy...it's the shading and coloring that need the most practice.
Well the always kind and lovely Silv has encouraged me to keep at it. I was kinda bummed.....I don't want you guys to think my idea came from someone else.....I didn't even follow Elenarias until a week or so ago..... :-\
Silv has assured me that no one will think that....so I'm going to keep at it. Now to just get my tablet to become my friend!!!! :o
It's hard to tell from just a sketch because shading and colouring matter a lot to me. Anyway, I really like the way you draw horses and I think the sketch is beautiful. I especially like its big horsey butt where the fish tail begins. I think that part is very well done. :)
My only criticism is that the mane / top fin is a little too angular looking for my taste. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect.
LOL Thanks. Oh there's so much to fix....that's just the first try! ;)
And I totally agree about the shading and coloring. I would really love to watch someone do one from start to finish. Like all the shading and all that.
The sketch definitely has potential, I think I'll be looking forward to these. :)
I need a tablet teacher....Silv!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P
I think the style is definitely different enough from the other adopts here that I don't think they'll have too much trouble so long as the rest of it turns out well. Perhaps also using cell-shading would also help, since all the other horse adopts have semi to realistic shading. (unless I'm forgetting one...)
Mm, not sure this is quite what you mean, but I did do up this tutorial years ago - not all of it is current to what I do now, but maybe it'll help? http://silvanon.com/tutorials/CompTutorial/tutorial.html
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D
I like the way you draw horse faces Sarah, they remind me of the elegance of the Arab breed ^.^
Thanks. They are my favorite RL breed.
Same here ^.^

That's the tutorial I used when I first got started with adoptables. I do a few things differently now but it's definitely very helpful. :D
It helps alot!!!! The layer thing was really confusing to me!
I love the heads on your sketches; they are very elegant and expressive to me. I would adopt just because the head is so beautiful!!!!
Your sketches are gorgeous; maybe you could do a couple of breeds so you could get some more of your pretty outlines in? ^.^
I like the idea and overall sketch, :) but somethings wrong about the head and ears to me :/

I don't think I knew that. I, like, feel all proud now. XD
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you got quite a few adoptable owners started with that XD
Was thinking of calling them Kelpies.
I like it a lot! I love the way you did the face.
Well I guess since Elenaria is also now doing Kelpies I won't be doing this after all..... :(
Your artwork is very different than theirs, as is the style of your kelpies. Many adoptables have kelpies and water-based horses, including my own very soon, so I wouldn't feel discouraged ^.^ All of them are different, and none of us own the concept of "kelpies" as a mythological being, and we all have different takes on them, so don't feel you cant run your own kelpies because you can! people will appreciate them for what you have to offer.
You will learn people follow all sorts of adopts and a lot are ' duplicates' meaning same creature drawn by different people with different styles and game play per say. For instance there are dragons on here yet I'm going to bring dragons in later or even look at gryphs and gryphons same animal different styles :)
;D Everyone is so nice! Thank you all.
Your welcome ^.^ If you have your heart set on an idea, go for it. I'd personally love to see your style appreciated here.

Seconding this entirely. ^^
Also, Elenaria are not making a kelpies adoptable; we're doing a kelpies breed.
i know that i really liked your sketch and was greatly looking forward to seeing a finished piece. ^^
