Title: Breeders Cup 2010
Post by: Kahlira on November 05, 2010, 03:03:57 PM
Oh wow, tomorrow, in the Classic, Zenyatta goes for her twentieth career win. Ok,, that mmay not seem a lot in the grand scope of horse racing, but she's never lost a race. She's trying to do something no other horse has ever done. Go 20 races and retire with the 20th win (Did I mention she's 19-0?)

Goodness I'm so excited right now XD The race isn't even until tomorrow at like 6:45 local time. didn't get tickets and dont want to pay $25 to get in, so I'll be watching the races from the comfort of my own home, which will be exciting nevertheless.

Anyone else excited over any of the breeder cup races and such? Zenyatta doing what no other has done?

I don't follow horse racing, but my english teacher mentioned that there was another horse competing this year who had also never lost a race, which would make this race really really exciting :O

That sounds cool! I've never heard of "Breeders Cup" before. Are all the horses in the race mares who have bred before?

*grins* Oh wow, guess I'm alone in this love XD

Nah. Breeder's Cup is all sorts of horses of every age. Sort of just the name of the races.. Like Derby Day or something. The Zenyatta lady though. She won the classic last year and the ladies classic the year before.

Gah. She's an awesome mare.

She stands at 17.2 hands high (Big for a colt!) Uses a bridle more for show horses then race horses (Her head is big. Big head, big brains)has to have a specially made saddle too. (She's big. What cam I say? What color is she? I dunno XD Never been good at colorings. But she has dapples

Ooo she does! I can see them in that first pic. Very awesome!

Okay I've always wondered: what's the point in those wraps they put on the horses legs? They look like socks with the blue stripes around the top lol (last pic, I mean)

It protects the back feet from the front hooves when running. Keeps em from injury.

(Louisville girl loves horse racing) lol!

AND So not fair!! My sister gets to go! *sulks*

I promised my mom I'd go see her though. Nursing homes, you don't normally have much to look foward to.

They are rundown bandages Ryuu.  TBs hit the ground so hard that the can scrape their ankles on the surface.  The bandages protect the area from getting cut and torn up.

IIRC, Zenyatta is registered as dark bay or brown.

I was so thrilled to see Goldy (that would be the outstanding French mare Goldikova) pull off a three-peat in the Mile.  First time in the history of the event that a horse of either sex has managed to do so!  Perhaps a good sign for Zenyatta.  Though synthetic specialist (which Z is) have not done that well over the 2 days.

An exciting race. She started dead last, was last up until the final turn. Then put on that special burst of speed. Blame just nosed her out. Such an exciting race though! Nosed out.

But still an amazing carreer for her. Good job Blame!

I used to follow racing!  I absolutely LOVE it!  Sadly, though, I haven't had cable or satellite for over 5 years, so not so much, now.  ><
