Nightmare sighs a little, looking at the others. He has been watching the franticly searching Faes down below. He noticed Destiny there, but didn't join her. He was only here to watch. After all, those Fae below all came to the Willow Glade to follow a dream. And their dreams all came true in the form of the little foals that have captured their equine hearts.

He shakes his long black and white hair, that always seems to be partly hidden in eternal shadow. How easy it is for a dream to turn to nightmare. Most of them will relive these few minutes in their lifes for days and even weeks to come, in the depth of night. Some of them may even try to fight sleep to avoid the replay. Their most beautiful wish has turned sour in the moment the foals disappeared. Just a short moment of unattention was all it took. That will haunt them for a while, he'll make sure of that. But will they heed him?

Suddenly, he turns to the other Unifications, still deep in thought of what happened to those distant relatives. "Do you think they'll understand the warning this time?"

The Fae really need to turn back from their current path... and he has to admit, they've tried a few times. But their efforts are feeble at best. They don't concentrate and stray as soon as something else catches their attention. Can't they see that if they keep up their careless ways, they will lose everything, as they have now lost their young, if only for a moment?

Time tilts his head curiously at the troubled Nightmare, worry clear on his face. Because of course he is one of those not jaded by the passage of... well, him. He still cares, perhaps more deeply than his flighty nature allows to show.

Or perhaps that is just an act, a clever disguise for what he really feels. If he only pretends to smile and laugh and play perhaps others around him will do the same and they will all be better for it. So instead of a serious reply, he attempts to think of something fun and funny to distract them all from the dour topic, but finds himself too troubled by it to come up with something.

Instead, it is the burly War who prowls out from his resting place in the shadows. He towers over Nightmare, his eyes looking angry even though he isn't.

"Act or forget it," he advises in a deep, rumbling voice. "If we care, we need to come up with a plan of decisive action and do something about it. Whispers in the dark won't make them change."
Title: Re: Unification RP

Startled, Nightmare turns his dark gray eyes up at War. Act? He hesitates.

Whispers... and images in the dark are his territory, more so than decisive action. The world of dreams and illusions, of hidden meanings and guarded warnings... That's where he feels most at home. Even so, Nightmare realizes only too well that War may have a point here.

"What do you suggest? We can hardly send them another war. It's not like they've learned that much from the last one." Even though the event had triggered a lot of activity for him. As with dreams, nightmares are a way for the mind to cope with life. They're just triggered by fear and worry, more than love and hope.

"Look at them, War. You've send them an army and they've taken it in. Halloween's night opened the gates between reality and nightmares... and they simply accepted those that waltzed out." He shakes his head, his left hand tugging at the tips of his hair. "And now they've lost their most beloved possessions, their own offspring. At least this has fazed them, but for how long?"

He shrugs. "Maybe I should be glad of their ability to bounce back, but it worries me. It means there isn't a lot we can do to make them see reason."

Death sighed. He certainly didn't like more work, and a war or any type of event like that would cause him to have to work overtime. Honestly he knew he was needed for the lower beings to exist in harmony with the world, but he didn't cherish his work either. He didn't know what to add to the conversation. He agreed with War, action was the way to go, talking and never doing drove him crazy, but what action should they take at this time.

Nightmare was giving him a headache, too much thinking always did that, but this was an important topic, so he stayed close by, and slid a little closer to Time, who he could see was struggling with what action to take as well.

"Not very much" Pain said softly, adding to the conversation from his niche in the wall, where he was sitting rolling a small pebble in his hands sluggishly and with his blue eyes halfway closed. "As you mentioned,  Death's little slip up and War's army... and they are still unfazed, maybe we should take a hand and go down there ourselves and tell them bluntly. It isn't as if they can slowly assimilate us into their herds and they might actually listen " he said with a faint grin.

Understands the seriousness of the situation and while he liked the idea of war, which brings about pain he didn't exactly like the mental type of pain , it was draining, drawn out, and usually fell into the realm of some of the other unifications, and that is what will happen if some of those faes will experience finding their little run away foal to late, but they will go on and still not get the message. He did not begrudge Destiny her time of fun , how ever he would have picked a different time to spring this such as before they even arrived to the willow grove in the first place maybe.

Melancholy was shoved forward quite against his will, because he was so much more used to the other kind of expressing himself, and why did he have to be written in the third person anyway!? It's not like his actions were so interesting that everyone wanted to read about them! Of course, if he didn't start describing his actions he'd just have to have like five paragraphs of dialog forced upon him and ugh, conversing THAT much was just beyond him right now.

With a much put upon sigh, the thin Unification joined the group having Serious Discussion Time. He perked up a bit seeing that Pain was there, because Pain always said things that made him very nervous but in some contrary fashion, his physical presence was something of a comfort. Maybe because he was always around, and always making the same kind of jokes and remarks. (There was no way Mel was going to say Pain was predictable, though. Not out loud anyway.)

Melancholy didn't make any comments, just inched forward to listen to what the others were saying. He had no idea what they were talking about. Wars between who? Oh, wait, right, the Faes.

Oh, that brought a little prick of guilt. They were talking about the Faes, which were their charges, and beings that should be worried about. Which Melancholy didn't give much thought about at all honestly, wrapped up as he was in his own little worries and strife and trying to get along with his siblings. Did they really have it so bad?

"What warnings?" he suddenly said, his eyes flickering with surprise at his own outburst. "Why do they need to change? They've been going right along all right for now, haven't they?" He slid his eyes to the side, hoping this wasn't something he was going to be hounded about for not already knowing.

Desire flicked her tail as she listened idly to the discussion. It was a wonder she wasn't just jumping in and saying whatever popped into her head as she often did. The conversation was a bit too serious for that and she was genuinely trying to pay attention so she could say something constructive. It was what Melancholy said that made her jump in. "Melancholy has a point. While they have lost their way quite a bit not all hope is lost for them. As much as it would be entertaining to try and steer them in the right direction its ultimately their choice to make. Freewill and all that."

Really she just didn't see the point in making the effort. She liked the Faes and cared about them but previous attempts had failed. In her opinion it was up to them to make the effort. She could easily influence some of the stallions to do the right thing by the Unifactions' books but it wasn't entirely fair to them. Sure she played around sometimes but this was Big Stuff and the Faes deserved the chance to fail or succeed on their own for a time. If they truly did fail they could always step in later and help them out. She wandered over to where Melancholy was and sat down next to him, leaning against him lightly.

Melancholy's eyes widened. He had a point? What?! Since when?

He looked at the small Unification who was suddenly seated next to him. "Did I really have a point? I was more...asking what was going on...." he admitted quietly.

Unable to resist (and with willpower much stronger than Garney's) War reached out and whapped Melancholy upside the back of his head. It wasn't very hard, he wasn't -trying- to hurt him. Then again, War was a pretty big beast, and accidentally bumping into him could prove fatal to mere mortals.

"War!" Time scolded, huffing at him, his feathers all in a ruffle and immediately poofing out several shedded tufts all over Death.

"Sorry," War muttered, dropping his head and slinking back into his favorite curling up and making himself small(er) shadow.

"Pbbffth!" Time exclaimed, not attempting to make sense, just trying to get some of his frustration out with a cute noise that would make Death fawn over him. "Yes yes, all their choice, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun trying to push them a bit, right? No need to fret over it, let's play! Make it a game. Whoever can increase the most beliefs gets... er... cake!"

Yes. Brilliant.

Destiny returned to the Heights, shaking her head.  Some of the faes were trying, but others... True, many were young, but that really shouldn't be an excuse.  She glanced back, wistfully eying the blowing snow.  The biting winds of a snowstorm always soothed her, but now that the faes were actively searching the area, it wasn't as freeing.

As she shook some loose snow from her long hair, she noticed a gathering of other unifications.  Drat, it looked like a Serious Discussion.  She hated those.  They always made her see too far.  She didn't like thinking too far ahead; too many alternate possibilities.  And the ones that usually showed most strongly were the less pleasant futures.  Often a slight nudge could send them into the positive, but she couldn't, and wouldn't, nudge very often.  The fae had to find their own way, even if it sometimes ended in heartache.

She slipped up to the group just in time to hear Time's idea for a "game", and pondered it for a moment.  She had planned to just stay in the back of the group and listen to their discussion, but the game idea amused her enough to speak up.

"A game could be fun.  Would there be rules?"  She figured someone would come up with a few, if they decided to play.  Either way, maybe mention of a game would lighten the discussion a bit.

Death plucked the Time tufts off of him. And smiled at the other male. He ran his hands to smooth down the now ruffled fur of the other, and shook his head a little.

"I do like cake, but Time, love, those of us with the less...errr pleasant...occupations will never be able to compete with those who have always been more popular." He knew that many faequine feared him, well to be honest almost all of the lower creatures feared him. The Circles dedicated to him were small, and tight knit, and entrance was not an easy thing. Perhaps he needed to meddle a little more. He had Mahakali and her circle, but other then that, no one really loved Death...well maybe Time and Knowledge. They were his favorites after all.

"You love me...right Time?"

"WAH!" Melancholy pinwheeled his arms to keep his balance, saving his nose from planting into the ground in front of him. "Oi! That--!" He cut himself off because, well, War was kinda scary. And Time was dealing with him anyway.

"Desire thinks I had a point," he pointed out with a huff.

"Yes, well... Desire is a little nutball," Time giggles and beams cutely at Desire, so you can't hate him even if you want to.

He flung his arms over Death's shoulders and draped himself there, like an overgrown accessory. "Ooohh yes I lub yew! No silly wibble wobbling!"

"Des-tee-neeey!" Time fluttered his eyelashes at her, "Why does a game need rules? Rules take out all the fun! Let's just meddle and then we can argue about who created the most new Beliefs! Arguing is the funnest part!"

Desire was normally easily annoyed by Time (for no other reason than everyone seemed to like him) but the expression on his face was too much. "Glad to be one as well," she said, mock bowing slightly. The idea of a game intrigued her and she thought it would be ratehr fun to stir up some trouble. "Why not? Something to do other than sit around up here."

"I don't agree with that arguing thing," Mel muttered lowly to Desire. "Some of these guys are scary and I don't think they should be allowed to argue, because you can't think of any good arguments to counter when you're standing in front of them." He gave a wary glance in the direction War was curled up in.

Death smirked at Desire.

"Really Desire, you can think of nothing other then this game to occupy time up here?" he winked and smiled devilishly.

He also smirked a little at Mel. War was scary, he would be the first to admit that, but honestly, a little love tap on the back of the head had Mel all a quiver. He didn't completely agree on the arguing thing, but wonderful arguments made for even more wonderful making up, so he was all for it.

Pain raises his hand to his horn and nicks the back of it before looking at the others a tiny bit more awake than before. "Mel, Time wants an argument because it is more fun making up afterward" he got up furling his wings close to his back before joining them, smirking faintly at Desire. "it would be an interesting game anyways...even so I am curious who will be baking that cake"

The child-like unifaction grinned at Death. "Nothing that I haven't done in a while."

Desire smiled with amusement at Mel's fear. Poor dear. She wrapped an arm around his leg in a way meant to be comforting. She turned most of her attention to Pain and smirked back. "The one who gets the least new Beliefs should be the one to bake the cake. Only fair."

"I was just curious about rules in general; I certainly don't have a problem without them!  As for arguments about the beliefs we spawn... That could be fun too."  Destiny eyed the others.  Yes, arguments could be dangerous with some of this group!  But making could definitely be fun as well, she supposed.

"And cake is always good."  She giggled, as she glanced at Death, who had already expressed doubt in his likelihood of winning this game.  "May not be not safe cake, but should be fun!"

Nightmare agreed with Death. He too wasn't much liked by the Fae down below, even though he did his best with the tools he was given. Sometimes he wondered whether his siblings thought about the Faequine a lot. Some of them really cared, he knew that. Destiny obviously did. But the others often seemed too busy with life up in the Heights. Of course, there wasn't anything wrong with that, he supposed. But he couldn't help worry... it was just part of his character. Maybe I am being too serious...

Nightmare knew the Fae didn't exactly fear him, not like they did Death or Pain. Fear? No. Some of them shy away, trying to avoid what I will show them. In a way, they fear Fear, because I show them the worst possible outcome, the worry they never want to face, but that hides deep in their own hearts. They hate me for forcing them to face their worst fears head on. They can deny what I show them when they're awake, but still they hate me for showing them. There is no Circle for me. Not since the last one died of old age.

But at least Nightmare had lain the first stone for a new one some time ago, by sending a rous to a small foal. The filly's parents didn't understand why she took so long in growing, but Nightmare did. She needed the extra time to get ready to face the nights...

But... did it really matter whether he had a chance of victory? His main purpose would be served, wouldn't it? To win the game, his siblings would have to influence the Fae, turning them back to the right path. His warnings had been in vain, maybe the others could make a difference. Together they had a chance. Even though they would all be trying to get ahead of the others. A soft sigh escapes his lips.

"A game sounds good... as long as we don't make things worse," he whispers, his eyes distracted already. At the very least, their interference with the Fae will remind their more equine relatives of their existence. "Without ANY rules, Time?"

Knowledge stayed quiet as she listened to the conversation change to a more serious tone.  She didn't care much about action or inaction, she was more interested in observing the process, whichever that might be.  Both were learning experiences and that was the part she liked to pay attention to.  Tugging on an errant strand of hair, she observed the going's on between the other unifications.  The faes tried in her opinion.  There were those among them who sought the truth and to be close to the unifications but things had strayed so much in the passing years that the devotes paths were often very difficult.  Maybe that was because she and the other unifications spent too much time in the Heights.  She did leave the towers still, but it was not as often as it used to be in days long past.

Time changed the topic somewhat, and greatly lightened the mood by suggesting a game.  She moved closer to where the unification lay sprawled across Death's lap.  She was not sure what she thought about this type of game, although she did rather enjoy a good argument and all its general aftermath.    Flicking her tail she smiled and broke her long silence.
"A game without rules does sound intriguing," she acquiesced.  "And I agree, there's nothing like a good... argument,"  her green eyes danced with mischief and she directed her gaze down Death where he was still sitting with Time.
