So, how many of you also have accounts on Pony Island? What do you think of it? Is it worth paying for your account in order to have there what we have here on Secundi for free?
I created an account there, but to get to the part of the forums where there are adoptables, like we have here, you have to pay for it. I'm not sure if I like that at all.
In the height of my craze I had 4 active accounts and was spending a lot of money. You don't realize how much until you start adding it up. I refuse to go back
I have been on PI since 2006, and I have 7 accounts, 4 of which are active (though two are up for renewals right now >.>). Just 1 account is not too bad, if you are mostly wanting it for adoptable purposes; making enough pg for some of the more expensive adoptables, without running your own, is more difficult on just one account. Most people have multiple accounts to accomodate more ponies, either for contesting/pg raising purposes, or because they like collecting/breeding the ponies, and run out of room on the single account.
I tend to follow a select few adoptables there, and avoid a majority of the other forums entirely. Too much drama. But I do enjoy the community of the adoptables I do follow, so I stick around for those :)

I should find someone to take on some of my favorite that are now very dead. Amazing how attached you can become to pixels.
Do their adoptables work the same as here?
more or less - there are no 'agency' adoptables, but each one has different rules on how they want things done. Some want things paged or displayed, some want things linked to their images, so that any updates show automatically, some insist that you save the image and post it from your own host, if you want to display it. Some are very in-depth (roleplay, competitions, breeding for new traits, etc), some are just collect-em-all types, and there are others in between
I have 3 active accounts and about 7 that are currently expired! I'm mainly on there still due to being a part if the canid team, a huge adoptable there. I don't currently follow any others actively and mainly just do contesting on my account to sell bp so I can buy pretties ;)
So the only way to even see any of these adoptables is to pay for your account? Really, I don't like that setup at all. I'd prefer to see what's there before deciding.
It's a much much larger community, with oh so many adopts so I'm sure you would find some you like but yes, for full access to all areas inc the adopts you have to pay for your account. Luckily there is the 6 month option, so you could pay the $14 and try it for 6 months and if it's not for you, just let the account expire.
Secundi is sheerly artist driven adopts. PI is a game onto itself first and foremost that just happens to have a thriving adopt community.
As far as I know, even as an unpaid account, you can see the adoptable forum; you just can't post there. I know I can see the adoptable forums even when I am logged out, so you should be able to at least look without paying ahead of time
I personally don't think it's worth it to pay, but then I don't have much in the way of disposable income right now anyway. The actually mechanics of the PI game got tiresome for me and the adoptables I was into sort of faded out of existence. It was also devilishly hard finding a community I liked on that site. *shrug*
As a sort of related question, can expired accounts deploy BP to other accounts? The page talking about TRI vs. USR differences only mentions PG.

Found'em....some really great artwork. But I love how we have our Agency here, much better.

Unfortunately, expired accounts cannot deploy BP to others... or send items. *eyes 3 accounts with significant amts of bp I could be using, but can't afford to renew just now*
And yeah, a good few of the ones I was stalking did drop off, but I have a couple I still am fairly heavily involved in (and I can't seem to let some of my ponies go either), so I keep up with the few accounts I have going
I used to control 5 accounts, now I just hold one, and I am happy with that. I have had that account for many years now and probably will for many more years to come
running an adoptable on PI is a lot different too, so if you choose to go there and you wish to start an adoptable read the manual and know what's going on
Wasn't really considering running one....but more to collect. But...I like it here much better. No so "cluttered" and not so many people here. Much better. :)
They also have tons of rules and regs, like the no obvious gender and whatnot
on a side note, does anyone have an expired account with bp/pg/items I could trade for/purchase? I got rid of all my accounts and I'd like to start over with just one.

With arty..if you ever want to make an adoptable there they have a lot of regulations XD mainly dealing with human/noid and what they can or can not wear. There is sometimes some drama off an on (and corruption ._. )
Still it is fun(even so pony selling section is not friendly to new people) . The adoptable section has slowed down quite a lot compared to three years ago or so when there would be two-three pages of activity. Even the official site rp has kind of been killed off as well.. But both places are still going ^.^
If you pay for an account and let the subscription run out you can still post and access all site areas as if you were a normal paid user. You just can't send Bp/pg or buy ponies. ::is there rping now and then:: but you can join adoptable events that are free ^.^
Hm I think I have/had a total of 4 accounts and I rarely left the adoptable section XD . I know there were people there with 10+ accounts and all of them running quests xD
